According to new research, there are 13025 glaciers in Pakistan. While more than 12700 glaciers are located in Gilgit-Baltistan. That is why Gilgit-Baltistan is called the third pole.

Gilgit District is one of the districts of the federal territory of Gilgit-Baltistan in northern Pakistan .
