PSDF Budget 6 billion for Gilgit-Baltistan.

It will take more than a decade to complete the projects with a budget of 84 billion rupees and the cost of the projects will increase manifold with the passage of time .

“Water for Development” Project launched in Gilgit-Baltistan

The project is being implemented by EvK2CNR, executed by UNDP, and funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). The project will install hydrological stations to measure water discharge from glaciers, providing valuable data on flood levels and supporting better water resource management in the region. The project’s scope includes the establishment of two new laboratories in Gilgit-Baltistan for phytopathology and zoology, alongside strengthening existing glaciology and water quality laboratories previously set up by EvK2CNR and UNDP with Italian Government support. Road accidents and safety

According to experts, 90% of accidents are due to negligence of the driver. Only 10% of accidents occur due to technical errors. Technical issues can include road design, weather effects including brake failure. Experts further say that by following the directions and warnings written on the roads, accidents can be reduced to a great extent. If a place has a speed limit of 30 km per hour and a car is driven at a speed of 80 km per hour, then an accident is certain. Failure to follow instructions is also one of the main causes of accidents. Public transport drivers should not be allowed to drive for more than 8 hours out of 24 hours but unfortunately such rules are not enforced at all. Apart from the government bodies, the passengers also have the responsibility to keep an eye on the driver and give instructions to the driver to follow other road safety measures including over speeding.
